This study provides a detailed description of parenting support and child and family support practices in nursery schools using episode description and participant observation methods. The study explores the following topics: (1) Parenting support at nursery schools and mutual understanding with parents or guardians; (2) Support for households where inappropriate parenting is suspected; and (3) Knowledge and skills required for providing parenting support. The examination of support practices for parenting households provided by nursery schools, one of the principal sites for parenting support, is expected to facilitate visualization and introspection on actual interactions even among those with little experience supporting children and their parents or guardians.
