| 内容記述 | This paper focuses on how to coordinate English education in elementary schools with junior high schools in terms of instruction of written English. The new English curriculum which started in junior high school in 2012 aims to improve the teaching conditions for junior high English teachers; as well as students’English skills, by adding one more class a week with the new Course of Study based on the 70-hour Foreign Language Activities in elementary schools. Nevertheless, some junior high school students seem to have difficulties in learning written English and in memorizing vocabulary. I will suggest some ideas to enhance the readiness of written English for elementary school students. There is much to be improved in the instruction of Roman letters and the English alphabet, and alphabet phonics. The reading of English picture books can also be introduced. In addition, I will discuss the English writing activities in “Hi, friends! 1・2” — the activities’ books published by MEXT — as well as other possible activities. |
